So....the last time I posted on here I wrote that I would write down when i made my first sale. I must apologize because I am on like my 4th sale right now and the money is pouring in. It feels good to be in business for myself. There are somethings that I must improve though to make sure I stay profitable. I have to buy better shipping mailers and also I need more chips and supplies. I also have to start working on soldering instructions for my kits because I just had a person ask if there was going to be instructions. This is exciting and awesome. I will update the blog when i have made the changes and have my business on cruise control.

Continuing Struggle
I don't have a solid update as this post will be short. So I just got paid this week and I will be finishing up my buying for all the items necessary for me to start sell this item on Ebay or Amazon. What i am about to do now is create my company logo via Photoshop then my Ebay picture Ad. That's all for now.
The next update will be when I make my first sale.

A Business is Born...
Im super hype right now because I just thought of a sure fire business idea for my company to get it started. What I wanted for my company was to be able to repair or diagnose a customers computer. This is still my goal but I need something to jump start my business in the meantime while I go to school for my profession. Well yesterday I was watching YouTube videos and a great idea came to me while I was watching one. Apparently the business of kids modding their Xbox controller has grown and every Call of Duty squirt wants to use this. So I did some researching and there are people that sell the modded controllers on Ebay BUT then there are people who sell the kits to mod your own controller. Now when I first saw this I figured I would try it out and but a kit. Then i had a hunch and did some research on my own and found out just how much money it cost to make those kits. (To save my investment I will not go too far into the details of the kit) You have around 4 or 5 items that come in this kit, some wires, resistors, chips, whatever. Now on Ebay these kits are going for around 9 dollars and up. You know how much it cost to make these kits? about 3 dollars. Now with these kits, kids still have to install on their controller and all but the point is....people are buying these kits. So when i finished all of my research for this I decided to buy some thing so I can get into this business. Now if your wondering why i would jump at something like this without any experience, it is because I will make my own experience as I go. Also, I have a tactical mind and I always think 2 steps ahead. If for some reason I cannot get any sells with this I will just go into the business of modding the controllers for the customers.
So....what did I buy you ask? Well I bought a soldering iron, hot glue gun, and some other tech devices to help me program some mod chips. I had a little bit of spending money in my bank account and rather than putting a reserve on Halo 4 I have decided to invest my money. I will also write this off on my taxes and see a little bit of money from that.
I am super excited for this new venture and I can see the dollar signs.
Now from my website stand point I need to get this up and running by at least March. What I want on my website is a way for people to pay me for modding their controller or sending them one/kit.
I will update my blog in about a month with some details about this.
Until next time....

New Domain Name
As I said in my earlier post, I am taking certain steps toward me getting my computer repair business known and off the ground. I thought I was going to go the route of making some business cards and trying to find clients but I feel i need a bit more training and other things. What are those other things? Maybe more money, a Google voice business number and a functioning website. Out of those I chose the more interesting route and decided to try and get my website up....
So....whats the first step in getting your own website? Well in my eyes I wanted to get a domain name first and that's what I did. My official website name is Stylestechsolutions.com.....dot com!!!! I never thought I would have my own dot com. If you have at least 10 dollars to spare I would recommend grabbing your own domain name while you can. I say that because people are constantly making domain names and not using them because they hope to sell it to a person who is trying to use that name. Anyway I got the idea from a self computer repair businessman named Carey Holzman. This guy has it all, YouTube channel, podcast, website, profitable business... That is what I am trying to get to. While listening to his podcast he stated that Godaddy.com was a very good option for scooping up a domain name. Now....at first I was skeptical about Godaddy.com because of all the freaking cheesy commercials but it panned out to be viable. So I went to the site and typed in what i wanted my business website to be named and voila....I paid 9.99 (10.35) and had my own domain name, and you know Godaddy.com was so nice they even threw in Stylestechsolutions.info for free!
Now you might be asking ok you have a domain name, now what. Well first off its the 1st step toward a website and second off there is something really cool you can do with your own domain name. I will tell you in my next blog....
(Next blog I will be talking about what the next step is on my website project, and the advantages to having your own domain)

Switching Gears
Well I have not posted in my blog for some while now and I have a few things that I am changing with my plans. Due to problems with my former school overcharging for my tuition I have chose to switch to a different school. In that decision I figured out that I am not as in love with making video games as I thought. I now want to move to a more technical side of computers and get into network security. I would also like to open my own home computer repair business as I have already built one computer and I am currently rebuilding two right now. So the school I moved from is Devry University and the school I am going to is Southern Polytechnic. My major will be Information Technology and I start in January. As of right now my plans are to get my computer business somewhat off the ground. So the first step is to get some money so I can make business cards and get my name out there. Anyway that's all for now..... im sleepy

First post of many...
Hello to all,
To those that don't know me my name is David and I am from Georgia. I recently just left the military to try to pursue my dream full time. I am currently attending Devry University in hopes to one day become a full time video game developer. My degree that I am going for is Game and Simulation(GSP) which is a Bachelors of Science and is mainly focused on programming. I am interested in programming more than other aspects of development because of the complexity and the logic that it takes.
The reason for this blog is to maybe inspire people who are interested in creating video games for a living and to allow them to follow my progress and life of making it into the video game industry. So for the next few years I will be updating this blog whenever I have something new that I am doing or an update on something that I am currently doing. So to get started I will tell you guys about what I have been working on so far.
So far I am in my sophomore year and I am currently involved in a few projects. The first project is one that I am doing in the GSP club that I am in. It is called Shagons and it is a platform game. We have been working on this since August of 2011 and we have really come a long way. It is kind of crazy because even though I want to be a programmer I am actually in charge of the art on this project. The reason for this is because everyone in this club is a programming major lol. The 2nd project I am working on is my personal project which I am trying to finish and release by the end of this summer. The project is pretty much a 2d side scrolling shoot em up game that features trance style music and vivid colors. I have the title of it but I am trying to figure out how I can copyright the title of it in a cheap way before releasing it. So that is what's going on with that. Believe it or not those two projects are a handful. The last project I am working on is not really a game project but more of a writing one. A military friend named Lashon is a great artist with a really good sense of humor so me and him have been coming up with some pretty funny comic strips.
My actually thoughts and concerns on my project are just the fact that I really don't know too much programming yet. I am so nervous that I wont pick up programming quickly enough. Not only that but we are taught C++ and both games I am making are in C#. Yes! there is a difference. I also have to figure out how to switch the code from Unity to XNA game engine because I want it to be on Xbox live arcade also. Other concerns are how I am going to complete the art to this game. Im not really much of an artist so I have been trying to recruit different people I know who are into art. The first person I had was a professional concept artist that was a good friend from the military. Just as he was getting started on the project his wife who was pregnant gave birth and his priorities changed (unforgivable) lol kidding. The next person I had was a person from my Xbox live friends list that was a art major. I sent him the specs I needed and he didn't even get back to me. The next person was a guy that I worked at Walgreens with that was a pretty good artist. He seemed genuinely interested so I sent him the specs and gave him a deadline. I just tried to check up on him last week to get a progress report but no reply. Other than those hiccups things are coming along quite well. I just finished the prototype main menu to my game. I have an old friend from high school that is a music major and he agreed to lay down the soundtrack from my game (great news). Well with all that said I guess I will sign off for now and play some Star Wars: The Old Republic. Look for my next post sometime next week. Here is my rough menu for my game:
Peace
